The ACERT Technology of the Cat C4.4 engine in the 420E increases the rate horsepower to 93 hp. In addition, the engine cooling has increased and all 420E's will now have the High Ambient Cooling package as standard equipment. Plus, all 420E Tier 3 machines will have Automatic Engine Speed Control (AESC), similar to Cat Hydraulic Excavators. This feature provides automatic reduction of engine RPM when the operator is not using the machine hydraulics, which delivers improved fuel consumption.
