Jumpstart your career by joining the Caterpillar Dealer Service Technician Program! This program is designed to help you to achieve a rewarding, lifelong career as a certified Caterpillar technician. The four-year, state-approved apprenticeship program is centered solely on Caterpillar equipment training through the Heavy Equipment & Diesel Technology Department at San Joaquin Delta College in Southern California.

The first two years of the program, students will spend approximately half of each semester at the San Joaquin Delta campus in technical and general education course work. After successfully completing the required courses, students will have paid on-the-job training (OJT) at a sponsoring Caterpillar dealership, allowing the student to put theory into practice. Caterpillar Dealer Service Technician students will earn an Associate of Science degree from SJDC that may be transferable to a four-year college or university. Additionally, the student will earn two years of credit towards a four-year state journey-level certificate.

The remaining two years, students will work as a full-time apprentice technician at their sponsoring Caterpillar dealership, receiving additional on-the-job training and experience. Upon completion of the entire program, the student will receive a state journey-level certificate. This intensive method of study and practice prepares individuals to be the kind of high performance technicians that Caterpillar dealerships demand.
